Tacos Revolucion, Olas Altas, Puerto Vallarta, Zona Romantica
When I discovered Puerto Vallarta in September 2016, l knew nothing about Mexican food, other than Taco Bell and the Chiquis Taco Truck on Vine and Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles. It was my very first time in Mexico. I was a bit scared and excited at the same time — my dear friend Antony Vullin from West Hollywood was a regular in PV he loved it here: I followed his advice by flying there. Soon after I checked in at my hotel, in Zona Romantica, I saw a sign saying “Taco Revolucion” and I thought, let’s give it a try, the green decor inside looks lovely and welcoming, and the gentleman at the front seems friendly.
Raul and Judith his wife are the power couple behind Tacos Revolucion. The concept is simple, easy, fast, and delicious. Judith and her team of waiters and cooks will make you feel at home, offering you a selection of premium Margaritas, designer Mexican beer, cocktails, hibiscus ice tea, and meat or veggie tacos, carabinas (giant quesadillas), carne el su jugo, guacamole, and even a surprising and delicious corn ice cream (it became my favorite).
Ideally situated at the very core of the LGBT area, steps away from the Playa De Los Muertos : Zona Romantica, Tacos Revolucion attracts individuals, families, and groups coming from Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Canada, Quebec, and a variety of the international gay community including bears, music artists, fashion designers like Andrew Christian, Taco Revolucion is even enjoyed by celebrity models like Blac Chyna, or political figures like Mr. Chee Hong Tat Senior Minister in Singapore. The restaurant features a street terrace area ideal to spot who’s walking, who’s in town, and what is happening while enjoying a delicious meal. The inside area is lovely, especially on the chilly nights in winter when one wants to feel cozy, and the back patio is the perfect magic garden to host groups or couples who want some space or simply privacy.
What makes Puerto Vallarta so special is the ability for the locals to have a great sense of humor and to make fun of everything. This is how Raul came up with various concepts of tee shirts such as “Make tacos, not walls®” — these became the new sensational item everyone wants to show when returning to their home country. If you want to get the true Mexican experience, the flavors, the kindness, and the integrity Taco Revolucion will become your new home.
